Trend and Direction of Digital Learning Research

讲座人简介：Kui Xie, Ph.D.,is Cyphert Distinguished Professor and chair of the Learning Technologiesprogram in Department of Educational Studies at The Ohio State University. Healso is director of The Research Laboratory for Digital Learning at OSU, wherehe advises doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.

Through hisresearch, Kui Xie aims understand how students learn in technology-supportedlearning environments and how to design, develop and integrate innovativetechnology capable of promoting students’motivation and engagement in digital learning to achievea positive impact on student success. His research focuses on areas wheretechnology plays essential roles in supporting meaningful learning, includingcomputer-supported collaborative learning, motivation and self-regulatedlearning, learning analytics and social network analysis, artificialintelligence in education, virtual world and educational games, digitallearning design and development, and teacher technology professionaldevelopment. Kui Xie has involved over 31 million dollars in research fundingat both the federal and the state levels. He has published numerous articles inhigh-impact journals, such as Computers and Education, Internet and HigherEducation, and British Journal of Educational Technology. With his growingreputation in the field of digital learning, Kui Xie frequently appears inpublic media, including TIME, The Conversation, WOSU“All Sideswith Ann Fisher”, and National Public Radio news.In addition, Kui Xie is a editorial board member of Contemporary EducationalPsychology, a review panelist for National Science Foundation and Institute forEducational Sciences. He served as president for American Educational ResearchAssociation Special Interest Group Design and Technology, and section chair for AERA Division C Section 3.A. Learning Environments. In 2015, Xie was named theTed and Lois Cyphert Distinguished Professor. In 2017, Xie received the EHEDistinguished Research Award from The Ohio State University. He also received aChang Jiang Scholar Award from the Chinese Ministry of Education.
